An Espionage Plot, as Depicted in the New 'Heart of Stone' Trailer Starring Gal Gadot

The premiere of the action thriller is set for August 11.

With less than a month until its release, the action thriller Heart of Stone finally has a brand new teaser to get moviegoers' hearts racing. Netflix decided to release the full trailer for the film during its worldwide fan event TUDUM in Brazil, while previously we had only seen a first look video including behind-the-scenes material.

The character of Gal Gadot's Rachel Stone, who struggles to keep her secretive life a secret, is the main focus of the trailer. It's already stressful enough for Stone to be a MI-6 agent without having to worry about leaking information about his own organization. It appears that these spheres are ready to intersect, which will likely throw her life into disarray.

The action scenes that will be featured in the premiere of Heart of Stone are also hinted at in the trailer. We only get glimpses of her at work, but from the looks of the neon-lit parachuting, snowmobile stunts, car chases through European streets, and high-speed motorcycle escapes in the cold, Rachel Stone seems willing to go to any lengths to protect her identities and complete her missions.

A Sequel to "Heart of Stone" Is Possible

Finally, the Heart of Stone trailer hints that this may be the start of a spy film franchise on par with Mission: Impossible and 007. Heart of Stone is not based on any source material, but sharing several similarities with similar films (including an ambitious premise, filming locations in multiple countries, and plenty of action). Since Wonder Woman 3 was reportedly canceled, but new DC heads James Gunn and Peter Safran say that Gadot wasn't booted from the DC universe, this movie is a great title to keep Gadot fans happy by seeing her save the world once again.

Tom Harper, whose directing credits include episodes of Peaky Blinders and Misfits as well as the indie hit Wild Rose, is at the helm for Heart of Stone. Greg Rucka (The Old Guard) and Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures) wrote the screenplay. Other notable actors in the cast include Alia Bhatt (RRR), Paul Ready (The Terror), and Sophie Okonedo (Catherine Called Birdy) in addition to Matthias Schweighöfer (Army of the Dead) and Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey).
