Web Slinger Concept Art from 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' Is Strikingly Similar to Previous Works

It seems like Kris Anka would like to see Pedro Pascal as Spider-Man as much as anyone else.

Many people were pleased by the fact that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse introduced them to several new Spider-Characters. And the Web-Slinger was one of those people. Seeing a Spider-Man who totally gets what it means to be a cowboy and web sling his way through shootouts was one of the best parts of the movie. That's in addition to the fact that we got to see our favorite heroes from all their diverse realms working together for once.

Now we can see how the movie's version of Web-Slinger came to be. Artist Kris Anka used Twitter to give a more in-depth look at the character and the artwork that inspired him. It's the kind of entertaining glimpse behind the scenes at the making of a film that so many of us like and respect. Many of us probably imagined we'd never see Web-Slinger in action, but in truth, he's just a character whose name is a pun.

All he is is a cowboy. It's hilarious to consider how they transformed the concept of a "gunslinger" into Spider-Man's take on a cowboy. Anka did indicate who he thought was hiding behind the mask, so now we need to hear Pedro Pascal play the role in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

They all like Spider-Man

There must be a good reason why Spider-Man is so much liked. It's great to see how much people appreciate Anka's work on the Web-Slinger. He said, "This is honestly kind of a good time to mention that a lot of my time was spent doing drawing overs, or that designs are just based on tweaking previous models," in response to a question regarding what Web-Slinger looked like without the mask. But I did a little Pedro Pascal on a Peter model for Webslinger.

Fans like myself are encouraged by the success of Beyond the Spider-Verse to believe that future installments will provide further opportunities to watch Peter Parker in action. But knowing that Pascal served as a model for his face? Fans of Pascal and Oscar Isaac have been waiting for a reunion since Triple Frontier, so it's imperative that we see Web-Slinger and Miguel O'Hara interacting with one another. We can all look at Anka's concept art for the movie and admire the Web-Sljnger until then.
