October Is a Great Month for Horror Films
In case you're a lover of scary movies, this October at the movies has a lot to offer. The Exorcist: Believer is the latest legacy sequel to the 1973 horror classic, joining the likes of Saw X, a prequel-slash-sequel starring Tobin Bell as John Kramer/Jigsaw who exacts revenge on a new group after they fall for a scam involving an experimental procedure in Mexico.
Following the release of the 2019 adaptation of Stephen King's classic Pet Sematary, the remaining weeks of the month will see the release of the prequel Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, which explores events set prior to the adaptation, and the Hulu original Appendage, which follows an insecure fashion designer whose feelings begin to manifest in a physical form.
The Mill, Dark Harvest, Dear David, and Suitable Flesh aren't even mentioned here.
The film adaptation of the terrifying video game Five Nights at Freddy's will also debut this month. Troubled security guard Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson) takes a night shift at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a once-thriving but now-abandoned family entertainment center, where he learns that the four animatronic mascots, Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy, come to life and kill anyone still there after midnight.
On October 27, 2023, Universal Pictures plans to release Five Nights at Freddy's in theaters and on Peacock at the same time in the United States.
