In October, an animated horror comedy based on Oscar Wilde's The Canterville Ghost will be released. This movie will be good for the whole family.
Fans of The Inventor are probably loving Stephen Fry's great performance as Leonardo da Vinci. Now, they can look forward to hearing him sing again, this time with some of the best and brightest voices in UK comedy. Hugh Laurie and Fry will work together again in an animated version of Oscar Wilde's famous story "The Canterville Ghost," which will only be shown in US theaters on October 20, 2023, just in time for Halloween. The movie is being made by Shout! Studios and Blue Fox Entertainment.
Hugh Laurie (House), Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor), Emily Carey (House of the Dragon), David Harewood (Supergirl), Meera Syal (Yesterday), Miranda Hart (Spy), Toby Jones (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), and Imelda Staunton (The Crown) are also in the cast. Stephen Fry (Gosford Park) plays Sir Simon de Canterville.
"As the 19th century gives way to the 20th, science gives us new ways to travel and see the world. In England, a modern American family moves into the country home they just bought, Canterville Chase, only to find that it is haunted by a ghost. Sir Simon de Canterville has been scaring people away from Canterville Chase for more than 300 years. However, when he tries to scare away the newcomers, he meets his match.
This lively, family-friendly horror movie from the UK is co-directed by Kim Burdon and Robert Chandler and written by Keiron Self and Giles New. It seems like a great choice among the more gory horror movies coming out in October. Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, who made the highly acclaimed sketch comedy show A Bit of Fry & Laurie 30 years ago with 26 episodes, are the perfect pair to help bring Oscar Wilde back to life in 2023.
A Canterville Ghost combines the best parts of Oscar Wilde's most famous works, The Portrait of Dorian Gray and The Importance of Being Earnest, which are both scary and funny. The Canterville Ghost has been made into several movies over the years, including a strangely forgotten one with Patrick Stewart and Neve Campbell that came out in 1996. The most well-known version is probably the one from 1944, which starred the great and royal Charles Laughton and was directed by the great Jules Dassin.
Blue Fox Entertainment says, On October 20, 2023, A Canterville Ghost will be shown in cinemas. Here, you can learn more about the movie.
