The official summary for Justice League: Warworld begins, "Until now, the Justice League has been a loose association of superpowered individuals." "But when they are swept away to War World, a place of unending brutal gladiatorial combat, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the others must somehow unite to form an unbeatable resistance able to lead an entire planet to freedom."
One of the more exciting aspects of Justice League: Warworld is the random placement of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman in alternate timelines, which never ceases to thrill fans. Superman is in black and white, seeking to solve a crime in the noir tradition; Wonder Woman travels to the Old West; and Batman visits a primitive, Viking-inspired society.
Since Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox in 2013, the DC animated universe has undergone a number of reboots, the most recent of which being Justice League: Warworld. Superman: Man of Tomorrow debuted in 2020 as the first installment of the new animation franchise, the 'Tomorrowverse,' which also includes Justice Society: World War II (2021), Batman: The Long Halloween (2021), and Green Lantern: Beware My Power (2022).

Darren Criss as Superman/Agent Kent, Stana Katic as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, and Jensen Ackles as Batman/Officer Wayne head up an impressive cast in Justice League: Warworld. The rest of the cast also includes Ike Amadi as Martian Manhunter/J'onn J'onzz, Troy Baker as Jonah Hex, Matt Bomer as Old Man, Roger C. Cross as Machiste, Brett Dalton as Bat Lash, Trevor Duvall as Drifter, John DiMaggio as Lobo, Robin Atkin Downes as Mongul, Frank Grillo as Agent Faraday, Rachel Kimsey as Mariah Romanova, David Lodge as Sheriff, and Damian O'Hare as Deimos and Teddy Sears as Warlord.
The film is directed by Legion of Super-Heroes' Jeff Wamester, with a script by Supernatural's Jeremy Adams, Justice League Dark: Apocalypse War's Ernie Altbacker, and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power's Josie Campbell. On board as producers are people like Jim Krieg (The Death and Return of Superman) and Kimberly S. Moreau (Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham), with Butch Lukic (Batman: The Long Halloween), Sam Register, and Michael Uslan (The Batman, Batman Begins) serving as executive producers.
In addition to the already announced Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham and Legion of Super-Heroes, DC has announced the release of other animated projects, including Justice League: Warworld. A'spiritual prequel' to the acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series, Batman: Caped Crusader, will also premiere on Amazon Prime Video.
