Warner Bros. shows the latest look at Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the next DCU movie.
The first look at Jason Momoa as Aquaman in the upcoming DC sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom comes from a teaser video for the movie. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which was put out by Warner Bros. Pictures, is one of the last movies in the DC Cinematic Universe before director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran bring the series into the DCU.
In Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which was directed by James Wan and based on a script by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldric, Momoa's character Arthur Curry fights for good again after an ancient power is released. Aquaman must make an uneasy deal with an unlikely friend to keep Atlantis and the rest of the world from being destroyed in a way that can't be fixed.
Several of the actors from the first movie will be back for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. These include Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius/Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Temuera Morrison as Arthur's father Thomas Curry, and Nicole Kidman as Arthur's mother Atlanna, who used to be queen of Atlantis. Ben Affleck will be back as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the DC movie, which will also feature Randall Park, Vincent Regan, Jani Zhao, Pose breakout star Indya Moore, and Pilou Asbaek.
Will Jason Momoa give up Aquaman to play Lobo?
While we wait for Jason Momoa to come back as the DCU hero Aquaman, he may have already moved on to play the villain Lobo in the same series. Even though nothing has been confirmed yet, there have been rumors for a while that Momoa will play a different part in the new DCU. THR says that after Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom comes out, Momoa will stop playing Aquaman and play Lobo instead.
"Momoa, on the other hand, could be a key player in the new plans," the story says, citing several sources."In one possibility, the actor would end his time as the underwater hero Arthur Curry with the movie Lost City, which is set to come out on December 25, 2023. This would be the last movie made by the old government. But it wouldn't be the end of the actor's work with DC. According to sources, he would lead another movie or series. It has been said that Momoa plays Lobo, an alien bounty hunter with a foul mouth who likes to smoke cigars.
Lobo is a part that Momoa would fit perfectly, maybe even better than Aquaman, and the actor loves the character. There are still a few projects in the first chapter of James Gunn and Peter Safran's DCU that haven't been released, but many people think it will be a Lobo project that Jason Momoa will be leading. This probably won't be known until after the second Aquaman movie comes out.
The movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will come out on December 20, 2023.
